Feb 28, 2006 · I tig weld many different stainless alloys together and I can't tell the difference. I welded 316 to 304, 316 to 17-4ph, 304 to 17-4ph. I didn't notice any reduction in corrosion resistance, in practical use. For things that I use in seawater, I usually clean up the weld with a deburring wheel followed by polishing the part.
